Default Silent Hunter 4 warship attack video

Battle of Midway is the biggest scenario I have seen, with probably 30 planes and 40 ships, lots of life rafts, parachutes, swimmers, etc. So I turned the graphics details up to see how it would play on my 4 year old minimum spec machine. Not bad!

This is on Easy Mode, no manual TDC and the map gets automatic updates for you.

enjoy!

Cool Neal - looks like those explosions on the carrier gave your system a good kicking!

Cool watching that downed airman running alongside that battleship too. Thanks for posting the video.

Sine the planes were being blown off the deck, do they fal off if the carrier when it rolls over?

Also, do they actually take off as well or are the planes flying already airborne?

Neil can actually fire his torpedoes in a streight line, something I have yet to master . Why do mine always go 90 degrees to the left?

You expect me to see that, when I can't even fire a torpedo in a streight line?

Nice video I presume if the depth was feet that means it was using 1.1 patch? It was great to see (hear!) better crew feedback on firing torps and getting hits. The previous attack video felt a little lifeless with a silent crew.

Nice video Neal.

Seeing the screen res on this pc's 15" LCD isn't up to snuff, I couldn't make out any text. I'll have to try again later on on my computer. Graphics do look good tho and seem to be better than stock SHIII.

Nice video.

I think the devs put the ships so close together, though. I was gonna measure, but I keep getting blue screens when I do the wrong thing...

Not sure about the specifics of Midway offhand, but in 1941, the standard IJN doctrine for CVs was 7000m between ships in a box (each with a single trailing "plane guard" DD close to get aircrews that might take a bath on TO or landing). CAs were placed 15,000m to either side of the lead CVs. Another pair of CAs 7000m ahead and 15,000m to each side of the center of the box with a couple ships leading ahead in center.

It will be interesting to see what they think task forces looked like. I fear they will be rather closer together than they should be.

Yeah, I noted that too. It would be a lot easier to get into the convoy and attack undetected if they were spread out more. Maybe that is why the mission is set up that way, makes it challenging. That's easy to change in the mission editor, so no big deal.

Did you see the little pilot who bailed out and is swimming right in front of the Japanese cruiser?? :rotfl:He almost got run over.

He shoulda climbed up the sides and taken the ship over pirate style! Turned the guns on the entire IJN and sunk everything! Then sailed to Japan and invaded single handedly and ended the war!

*goes back to watching Rambo
