First off, I apologise if this has been asked before. I did a search for Starforce and came up with a shed load of posts...looking through the first page gave me sore eyes, so I'm going to ask here.
Also, in the posts I read, it seemed the topic of starforce, or more likely ways around it, maybe a bit "off limits"...if it is, and I've stepped out of line, then I apologise and by all means lock the thread and I will take my warning. Problem is, I have SHIII, and I really want to play it again. I've not played it in over a year and was willing to wait for SHIV...but in light of how dissappointing SHIV appears to be at the moment, I'd like to install and play SHIII. Now before I go any further. I have a valid, full price paid for DVD copy of SHIII. I need to know...is it possible to install and play SHIII without having Starforce installed? That software (that's a misplaced compliment) screwed my DVD drive and I refuse to put it on my system again. If it's not possible, then fine. I will not play it again. If it is fine, but not within the confines of this board to discuss, then I'd appreciate an email at wmar67~at~yahoo~co~uk. If you will get in trouble from the site owners, then as I said above, I do not want to cause any trouble, so please don't answer...I don't want to get banned on my first post, neither do I want anyone else to get banned on my behalf. Thx for taking the time to read. |

From past experience, yes this subject is off limits in this forum. Google is the best way to go.

Here is the legal Starforce removal tool - http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55
However, SF will be loaded each time you launch SH3 from the disc, I would suggest that you try Google. This is nothing new to what you would have seen in the archives. Good Luck. Welcome to the forum, Bilge Rat. ![]() What a question to ask on your debut. ![]()

Thx for the responses.
I have removed starforce from my system...and bought a new DVD drive to boot...so it being installed isn't the issue...the issue is not wanting it installed again with SHIII. I would've liked Ubi to provide a patch which removed SF like the one released for X3:Reunion...then again, potential sales of SHIV demand otherwise in the corporate world I would suppose. If I get it running, all well and good. If not, well, it's got a thick layer of dust on it anyhoo....no need to disturb it unneccessarily. I'll leave this topic now then. Sorry if the post was against forum rules... Thx anyway. |
