Default Armchair General spot

There is a small SH4 preview in the March Armchair General that says 'the single-player campaign spans 15 maps'.

What do you suppose they mean by that?

Campaign = Single Mission
Maps = Individual missions.

Alternatively it means the war patrol setting.

No, no, no - it's an old misinterpretation. Neal cleared this up a long time ago.

Someone mistakenly translated it from the developers' Romanian as 'maps', when all that was in fact meant was single missions/war patrols. There is only one big global map in the game, as in SHIII.

Correct - and the world is is a cylinder this time - unlike SHIII which was flat w/ the Pacific cut in half. So if you sailed east you would - eventually - end up where you started

So what does 'the single-player campaign spans 15 maps' mean ?

Is this line just refering to single stand alone missions that are not related to the campaign feature ?

Correct it is in no way related to the campaign. Its supposed to be 15 missions for single player non campaign mode.

there will be 15 Full War patrols ie perl - combat area(s) - dock back at midway/perl ext. and there will be a Fully ai naviguble (unlike SH3) planet type map for the dinamic campane. plus instant action historical missions ala, SH1, 2, & 3.
