Default DW movie maker

You know the opening and closing movie for Dangerous Waters?

Well that movie is made be referencing the database. I remember Jamie saying they had a movie making app but it was very buggy so they wouldn't release it.

Well if you go into the cinematic folder of DW and open OpeningMovie.ces with notepad you will see that it is just a text file.

I reckon a movie making app made by some skilled person here would be great.

I saw a screenie of SCS's one and it seems that it was kind of like the mission editor but you just layed down camera angles and movement and you could script effects.

So...anyone want to try and make one?

I don't know how to program....programs, so I can't help. But I can say that it's a good idea!

BTW, is there a good, but free and LEGAL, movie making software like "fraps" out there? I've only got Window's Movie Maker. It sucks.

I've experimented few days ago with Corel CAPTURE X3. It is not real movie maker just capture but you can adjust some options like frame rate, the lenght, etc... When you are rdy just hit the activation key having the game running and movie record is done. Then i've opened the avi file into Flash 8, encoding and after that is done i can edit the captured material as i wish, meaning adding sound, merge with other movies, pictures, special effects, etc. It is time consuming proccess and the basic captured files are to large but works.

Could this have a potential use for backing-up training scenarios ? :hmm:
