Default The Bridge

Do you know one of the things that struck me most when I played SH3 I thought it was extremely cool. I suppose because I am easily pleased it was a nice feeling to think I was standing on the conning tower of MY sub. It was very nice.

You know, it really pulls you in, especially when you have German language on and your watch officer calls out ship spotted or you are sailing along on a calm day with clear skies. I really do feel like the captain, I sort of cant help feel I should have a captains hat on and be smoking a pipe!

I like going up to the bridge that was my best feature before I discovered "ALLLLARRRRMMMMMM"

In GWX, you can actually get seasick, which has been confirmed by numerous players in the past.

Penelope, I think that's true for a lot of people...this game is very, very popular, even for people who hate sims. I know Quake gamers, who have the attention span of 15 seconds, who play this game. As for me, I also love the feeling of controlling your own sub...and I'm addicted to the exploding ships, I know it's a bit morbid but I just love seeing ships go under.

This must be the most "real" feeling game I ever played. Even Flight Simulator 2004 doesn't feel this real and that's supposed to be a geniune flight sim. SH3 has made sub sims "cool", something which I wouldn't have thought possible even a few years ago.

p.s. I think ladies would've made excellent Kaleuns...pity BDU never thought of it...

Default being on the bridge

Yes, I liked that immersive quality myself.

That is what got me, the immersiveness. I thought my brother was positively mental the way he would curse the stinking weather or when he would yell in joy when his torpedo punched the side of a ship or when he would be sat at the PC and would literally sometimes be sweating slightly as he tried to evade Depthcharges. I mean, I though, yeah, lights are on but nobody is home!

Till I of course had a go and now SH3 is just one to add to my many addictions. lol I do all the exact same things he does now, we are two nutters united in our appreciation of a certain submarine simulation. Everything is so well done, the water is beatufiul in it.

I don't really know if I would agree with that, because I think it would have been quite difficult for a woman to command a boat with 50 men on board. Also, there is the danger aspect, I know you have women soldiers today, but imagine being inside a metal tube 500 feet underwater with depthcharges dropping all round you that is scary, I just don't think the average woman, despite equal rights and all that would be up to it. I know I wouldn't. Then again... how many of the boys here think they could cope in a U-boat?

The correct answer to that question is that no one ever knows what they are capable of until they actually go through it. Many people who talk big chicken out when the time comes, and many who think themselves weak stand up to the worst of it. A lot of times when asked about their bravery in battle, soldiers have said things like "I wasn't brave; I was just too afraid to have my friends think I was a coward, so I acted brave instead."

When the chips are down you always surprise yourself.

I would dare say that soiled undergarments would be my answer to depth charges.
Claustrophobic comes to mind when I think of being under the water and not allowed to come up for hours on end. I have not played 100% no outside views yet because not seeing the DD circle and just looking at the 1st officer with that crap eating grin on his face would make me go a little nuts
