Default Remmember Y2K?

I dont see any use for changing time forward or backwards.

As much hassel as it causes the loss is more than the save.

Now this.....

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/t...?storyid=76635

Stand by for heavy rolls as the ship comes about.

Drop in the bucket compared to Y2K.

DST procedures have been in place all along. Shifting them to a new date and time is child's play compared to the mass reporgramming, testing and conversions that were required for Y2K.

It was no laughing matter.

Lots of serious work was done by millions of companies to make sure they could stay up and running into the 21st century.

I know of companies as early as 1990 that experienced critical Y2K bugs as well as companies that failed to make the Y2K deadline and were still dealing with the headaches after 01/01/00.

Just because planes didn't fall out of the sky doesn't mean that there wasn't a major problem here.

My old Win95 stills works OK and never was upgraded in any way and survived the YK2.

Calander ends on Dec 31st 2099.

In most cases, DST rules can be revised by a simple patch in most software situations. If you haven't gotten the Windows patch yet, Microsoft has released the patch on their website. Granted, for airlines, it's a bit more complex, as they need to factor in an additional hour for all flights (because we leap forward one hour in spring, each flight in the air at that time takes one hour longer), but it shouldn't be all that much more complicated than a normal year.

All Windows OS's have a calendar running from 1980 to 2099.

Well, if you thought that the major fear of Y2K was your PC failing, then I can sympathize with you.

Unfortunately for organizations running major in-house or customized transaction and application systems, they had somewhat more to lose than a game of solitaire.

I know, I know. There's more to it than your own PC.

This year it's being implemented early as a trial to see if it will reduce oil consumption, which has never really been examined. It'll be curious to see the results. I'm of the opinion that the clocks should be left on DST all year round.

If anyone has any y2k food supplies left, maybe it's time to check the expiration dates on your goods.

Remember to double bag and even double barrel all goods ... Rodents can chew through anything if given enough time.
