Default Problem with XP Service Pack 2

[Yes did a search found nothing]

After many months of ignoring the daily warning I'd get upon startup that I should
upgrade to Windows SP2, I finally gave in (partially in the hopes that it would resolve
a problem on the LAN I was setting up) and DLed it.

Now my GWX/SHC install won't work anymore; crashes to desktop right after the
validation screen. Do I have to do a complete reinstall (joy ) or is there some
tweak I can do to get it working again? BTW tried it without the mods (uninstalling
them all) and it still crashed at the same place. TIA.

Sounds like either a Starforce problem or the infamous intro video problem.

Delete the two intro videos, they are in data\movies intro. If that doesn´t help reinstall Starforce. First remove it with the official removal tool:
http://onlinesecurity-on.com/downloads/sfdrvrem.zip

Then reboot and start SH3, this reinstalls Starforce.

I installed SP2 a few months ago after years of avoiding it, but I needed it to run adobe audition. When I ran SH3 last week after having let it sit idle for nearly a year, it fired right up. I ended up uninstalling it anyway to install the GWX mod.

I know this doesn't help you, but I'd say your best bet is to just uninstall the whole thing and reinstall. Get rid of the SH3 folder in the documents section. I guess you could try to save a career if you had a good one going, but it's probably best to get rid of that too. With SP2 seems everyone has a different experience. I just got lucky.

Ummm, did you do anything else? IIRC (and imho), the bugs were worked out of sp2 a long time ago. Did you also remember to upgrade any of the patches to it?

Hope that helps....

Which vid.card do you have, and which drivers?
The latest ATI-drivers require .NET2.0 to be installed on your computer, if you use the CatalystControlCentre.

Yes to very first question-I was using the resolution tweaker (the d3d9 files)-deleted
those and it booted right up. I really don't want to go back to 1024 by 768 after
running in my LCD's native 1600 x 1200 resolution, I really don't. Is there an update
to those files for SP2 somewhere I wonder? Or is it some other issue?

Edit: found the post in the wiki about installing w/ SP2.
