Did, fleet subs have sonar? not sure...
anyway, I'm pretty sure I've seen a hydrophone and maybe a radar screen around. |

If you have FM sonar you'll want to go active to find your way through minefields.

yeah, but mines only, it had a short range. basically once the bells chimed you had to be maneuvering and you had to be crawling at like 2kts or something ro you'd hit before you got clear.
But no one else could hear it! |

Pre-war doctrine included a "sonar approach" on surface vessels. When the war started, some of the old-time skippers actually used this approach and (not surprisingly) didn't hit squat. Even though the sonar approach was actual doctrine, ComSubPac chastised those who used it for "not being aggressive".
The sonar approach was quickly abandoned. (Silent Victory by Clay Blair gives some example I think).

In some of the videos posted, the sonar was visible and AFAIK it was also mentioned the sonar had the ability to ping and there would be a sonar to detect mines.
I don't know, if it acutally had a screen. AFAIK in some dev-Q&A, it was also mentioned, both sonar and radar were fully operational just like the original at the given times.
