Default Sending contact reports (GWX)

Gutent tag, Kaleuns!

Yesterday I was coming home from a wealthy patrol and outside the coast of Norway I found a norwegian trawler that began to run zigzag when I was coming to inspect it. This was indeed suspicious behaviour and he would not stop and I could not use any of my guns in that kind of weather. So I for once send a contact report hoping that someone would notice.

And what do you know for my first time at sea I see Luftwaffe 3 planes coming in and I immedientaly crash dived, only to found out that they bombed the trawler to hell.

Really surprised that I received help like that, anyone else knew this? (ofcourse you do but maybe there are some that doesn't know about it )

Poor trawler

I'm surprised that they came out for a trawler.

Anywho, you will recieve air support after sending a contact message if your are within range of a friendly airbase. However, not everytime. It works on a percentage chance. IIRC GWX default is about 50%.

Well done, you have seen one of the rare things in GWX/SH3. I have never been given air support yet.

Hi Tiny,

As I understand it, as long as you are near a Luftwaffe base and you send a contact report, they will come and attack.

I once gave a contact report on a convoy of two or three ships (I was almost out of eels) and got to watch them being bombed by our guys. After To be honest they didn't actually hit much, but it was good fun to watch.

yup, if they are in range they will come also you must have a visual of the target too. i had a visual of a large convoy the other night and 2 VIIC came to my aid

I hate the Luftwaffe! At least this time.......

During a patrol in April 1940 I found a Large Cargo ship with a Norwiegen flag.
This was just southwest of Kristiansand.
I lay and wait in an perfect angle. Had about 800-900m to target when I fire of two torpedoes.
After a few seconds I hear a BIG BANG!!!
My first thought is that the torpedoes exploded in advance. Strange I thought because I had piston set for impact.

I take a look and what do I see? Three Stukas bombing MY ship to hell just before the torpedoes hit.

No renown for me........

i dont know i was on my way out coz i ran outta fish but i still had the conoy on hydraphones and i could see the other 2 uboats through periscope heading towards the convoy. in GWX other friendly uboats can ony attack with their deck gun, so against 3-4 DDs i dont think they would have lasted very long. i wish now i would have turned around to watch the action.
