Default FPS drop using NYGM!

I'm back after a long break from SH3. I have bin waiting for the realistic experience offered by NYGM! Now it's finished and I can finally play!

I know NYGM doesn't include to many graphical updates but starting my career in the Kiel harbour framerate dropped from 13-14 fps to 9-10 fps outside the boat. Inside the boat framerate dropped from 23-24 fps to 17-18 fps...

I run the game using FSAutoStart, sync off, lowres textures and particles set to one!

Any suggestions how to increase framerate, should I remove some new highres textures?

Please help...

What is your config ? I run NYGM with FS Autostart on a laptop with 512 ram and 128 mo video - which is the minimum I would think - and have 20 fps in harbours...
Have you defragged HD lately, cleaned files and registry ?

Corsair's right. If you have had a dormant installation of sh3, it may have become fragmented. Your best bet is to uninstall sh3, delete all your career foldering in My Documents, defrag, reinstall sh3, 1.4b and NYGM.

I have 1026MB RAM (850MB after running FSAutoStart), 128MB Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4600 and 1260MHz Athlon. I know my processor doesn't meet the requirements but I could play stock SH3 with good fps...

I've just installed SH3, the harddrive is defragged, the registry is cleaned...

Maybe NYGM mods smoke, bottom, clouds etc? I should just be able to remove these graphical changes but I don't know what to remove...

Suggestions?

NYGM is very light as far as the graphics go, the main aim is to improve the gameplay to a more realistic one.

However, during my time in WaW I too noticed significiant drops to my FPS while at open sea. It usually occurred when I was in the atlantic and looked straight to the west. My FPS came to a ~15 from 60-80. But that was the old NYGM version, 2.0 or something like that, I havent tried the newest one so cant say if the problem is the same as you described.

The only real source of frame rate drops I can think of in NYGM is the 16km visibility mod (present in pretty much all major mods).

I think your problem is the video card - considering it's about 4 generations behind the latest, it probably has trouble keeping up.

What you could try is tracing down some 8km visibility mods. I can't check right now, but I believe the Documentation folder that NYGM mod comes with contains an optional 8km 'downgrade'.

I think the 16km visibility mod might be the problem but I can't find any optional 8km visibility mod? I have NYGM 2.2 and 2.4 update but there's no optional 8km mod in the documentation folder?

Can anyone upload that mod or tell me where I can download it?

Can I change the visibility range myself?

Does changing visibility affect the detecting/detection range?

In NYGM v.2.x there isn't a optional 8km mod because NYGM contains only 16km mod by default. I think that I seen in one DTB posts that he said that 8km mod never be possible with NYGM. Everything they done for sensors is for 16km mod.

I must to admit that before I first time tried the NYGM, I have a GW 1.1a installation on my PC with ATI X600XT PCI-e graphic card and I bought a new graphic card (GeForce 7600GT) because I was very disapointed with my previous graphic card and performance I had in game. Then I bought the new graphic card and not so long after that I tried the NYGM mod and from that time to now I have a NYGM in 1280X1024 resolution with 4xAA and 4xAF and I'm happy now. This game really deserve to have a strong PC.
