Default flooding / damage control

Howzit, mates!

I'm having trouble finding resources on the damage control interface in either the manual or the community manual.

When my boot was sunk last night, there were several timers both on the display of the compartments and in the permanent tooltip below the hull diagram. What do each of these timers mean? Where should I allocate a damage control team? Are the little gray 'X''s with timers points at which a breach in the hull has gotten into a compartment?

And thanks for all your help so far! I'm glad a place like this exists for such a great game...without the site I probably would have given up in frustration because the manual is so spare.

When you have flooding you will get 2 timers on the compartment in trouble
Left ( IIRC ) is the time to pump water out and the right is time till compartment floods
Once a compartment floods its game over

If you click on the damaged compartment ( large sub layout ) it will give you a breakdown of the damaged systems and the time till flooding stops

Put as many men in the repair party as you can - the fuller the green bar the quicker they will repair
You can also fill the damaged compartment with men and they will also help repair that area

I'm getting closer, but it's still rather difficult.

The great thing about this game is that you can't filch victories by saving from an early pint and then reloading, like one can with so many other games. At first it make you feel depressed, but then I'm coming round...and I think I like it. The "one track" of a career makes sure you learn from mistakes.

I have had left emblem cleared and still have flooding I believe it
actually represents time to stem the leak.

Yep
To stop the flooding is how I should have put it
Still takes time to pump out whats in the compartment
Although thats not life threatening it can make the boat heavier and slowly descend
If you have every compartment with water in it can be hair raising if you forget to watch your depth
