The 2nd US sub commander fired this month. Personally, I'm glad to see the Navy sending a strong statment to the fleet and world. Having these types of accidents is embarassing to the whole country let alone the Navy (makes us look like a country of incompetants). Maybe this will stay off the next sub accident for a while...

On the other hand though... maybe the increase in US sub accidents we've been seeing in the last couple of years is a direct result of the US's increased operations combined with less familiarity of that environment. The USN admits that littoral ops are the rule now and that it really doesn't have the experience that it would like in that environment...

... oh well, no matter what the cause glad to see the Navy's giving the message.
