Default Howto add type IIB?

Hi,

I've been trying to add type IIB back into the game for some time. For some reason this boat is not playable but you can find that it has its own folder in ...\data\Submarine\ and two types of conning tower in ...\data\Objects\.

I've been working with Basic.cfg and Flotilla.cfg but with little success. Does anybody have enough knowledge and experience to help me with this?

For example, first of many questions:

How does the game know where to look for type IIA and IID data? There aren't any paths defined in Basic.cfg.

I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I know you cannot add new playable uboat types because that's hardcoded. I guess the easiest way would be to add some 1400 sm range to the Typ IIA, and you got yourself a Typ IIB. Would be a sensible thing to do anyway since the Typ IIA hardly have the range to reach the Oakneys and were used primarily as school boats anyway.

That raises the following questions:
- Shouldn't the GWX team substitute the Typ IIA for a Typ IIB for the sake of being more realistic (and more fun)?
- Can it be done. Can all text references be changed so that all Typ IIAs are shown as IIBs?

Lord knows we've tried... We haven't given up yet...

There is also the matter of re-naming and replacing all the Type IIB AI U-boats first to prevent ID conflicts. We will probably re-name their models to "NSS_Uboat TypeIIC" if anything... but you will still see them as "Type II U-boat" in your optics.

At any rate... it isn't as simple as it looks.

This is one of my personal interests for the final edition of GWX.

Extending the range of the Type IIA player U-boat is the only simple part.

I was afraid it's not as easy. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks!
