Default Prison vs Work

SOme more fun for today!

-S

IN PRISON..........you spend the majority of your time in an 10X10 cell.
AT WORK............you spend the majority of your time in an 8X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON.........you get three meals a day.
AT WORK...........you get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON..........you get time off for good behavior.
AT WORK............you get more work for good behavior.

IN PRISON..........the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK............you must often carry a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

IN PRISON..........you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK...........you could get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON.........you get your own toilet.
AT WORK..........you have to share the toilet with some people who pee on the seat.

IN PRISON..........they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK............you aren't even supposed to speak to your family.

IN PRISON.........all expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required.
AT WORK............you get to pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON..........you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.
AT WORK ...........you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON .........you must deal with sadistic wardens.
AT WORK...........they are called managers.

Just the seat?

I often wonder what the challenge is for some guys to hit the urinal and not all over the floor beneath it.

I believe work is closer to slavery. Maybe not a slave in a plantation but you'd be surprised to find out how much freedom a household slave in ancient Rome used to have. As in classic slavery, the scope of modern slavery exceeds the employer-employee relationship. It has to do with the entire social economic culture. Individuals are encouraged to spend and consume, these provide steam to the engines of the human society, which in turn creates jobs for individuals and products for them to consume.

I believe this is what the movie Matrix is talking about. Human batteries power the ever-present machine.

A century ago workers regularly worked a 60-hour week, ten hours a day for six days. There were no vacations, Sundays off was strictly so people could go to church. Leisure time was something for the rich. The rest of us had no lives, and no lifestyles.

I don't consider myself a slave at all. I love the modern era.

They can't aim because they're too fat to see the trajectory.

Well they all had lifestyles, just some were more comfortable and affluent than others.

Never thought of that. You may be onto something there.

You do have a choice. When I was younger I had the work life balance completely wrong. I would work 45-60 hours a week and life outside of work was rubbish. All I knew was work and stress. Now, I work 38-40 hours a week, earn a good salary with company car, am happily married and really have little to complain about. And yes, I live in England although if I was back home then my quality of life would be even better.
