SH 3 problems

I have just purchased SH 3 from my local computer store to which doesn't run on my computer, however I went back to the store to which runs on their system perfectly is their something wrong with my computer which is only 2 yrs old.

When I checked on the disk my computer it shows that its a blank disk when infact it worked at the store of purchase.

I have SH 2 and DC on it to which works fine. Would having SH 2 on the computer effect the loading of SH 3?

Not much info to work with here. :hmm:

Going solely on your "When I checked on the disk my computer it shows that its a blank disk when infact it worked at the store of purchase." comment, one has to ask, are you sure you are inserting it into a DVD-ROM drive, and not just a CD-ROM drive?

EDIT: Looks like I'm too slow again...

"Only 2 years old" may be just too old. And it depends what inside the case. If it was cheaper than 1000 USD/Euro it is most likely a piece of crap.
Computers bought from a supermarket just aint good enough.

What a load of crap...

That comment is about as far from facts as I have ever heard.

I have a 2 yr old system that can run SH3 just as well as my brand new system.

Not only that but price has nothing to do with how a system performs. All that sounds like is someone playing the "my penis is bigger than yours cause I paid more" horsecrap.Bunch of bollocks.I paid $500.00 for my home built system and run SH3 perfectly at 1280x1024 with 2xAA and 2xAF.

Now as for the topic on hand..

1. Make sure you are using s DVD drive and not a CDROM drive as has been said. That would explain the readingit as a blank disc.

2.What are your systems specs...would be help us to help you if we know whether your system can actually handle the game and what else may be the problem.

It's worth noting that sometimes an old system gets too tired to be any good no matter how safe and clean you keep it.

But a reinstall of windows can make a world of difference when all other options fail.

@CWorth :rotfl:

Look at the state of my system and it still plays GWX fine. Back on topic though...give us your specs (including ROM drive) and you should get all the help/info you need

@jimbuna :rotfl: , what´s the saying, it´s whats inside that counts?!

On the topic, the first thing that springs to mind is, do you have an DVD drive?

Of course you can run any game on a cheap bucket, with low quality settings. I'm talking about everything set to max, and having at least 512 TC in ports. I'm sorry you only paid 500 for your rig. You cannot play any newer games (BF2142) without having to decrease graphics settings.

"I play Doom 2" on my 10-year old comp." Well d'oh!?

Well my system is..

ASUS Mobo
P4 3.0 Ghz
1024 MB ram
6800 256MB video
Audigy 2 ZS sound
2x 180GB SATA HDD
500Watt Power supply

All that and the rest of the parts I needed were only $500.00 total. Its all who you know and where you go to get the parts. So like I said..you dont need to spend all that to get a great system. And that system was built a year ago.
Now I could probably spend the same amount and put a top of the line together...using my same sources for parts.I dont use retail stores or online shops for parts..thats the key to saving money.

Yeah, and you know quite well that your system would have costed considerably more than $500 if you didn´t have the chance to get the parts from "special sources". So don´t say that a good system doesn´t have to cost more than that, your prices are an exception and not the rule.
