Hi everyone,
How much renown do you need to get yourself a IXC/40 or IX-D2 with all available upgrades as soon as they become available? Does anyone know? Thanks |

I think it's either 7000 or 9000 for the boat and more if you need the engine, sonar, hydrophone etc upgrades. When I changed from VIIB to IXC (fully upgraded in Jan 1941) it cost me in total around 11000 renown.

Thanks mate, so I assume the later IXC/40 and D2 will be around 8000 - 9500 or something, not including uprgrades ... I've never tried the IXC but I have almost 11000 renown at the moment, are the later versions a whole lot better? I tried the IXC/40 once and loved it

The only difference between the IXC and the IXC/40 is their speeds, range and operational depths.
Max Speed: 18.3kt (IXC) 18kt (IXC/40) and 7.3kt and 7kt respectivelly submerged Range: 11000nm (IXC) and 11400nm (IXC/40) Depth: 150/225 (IXC) and 110/230 (IXC/40) (operational/maximum depth) In my opinion you'll be better off with the IXC

And it take an IXD2 42 seconds to dive to pd. apart from that it's an excellent boat. use it all the time.

The comparison between IXC and IXD2 is made (for me at least) with respect to their range. IXD2 has a huge 23700nm in comparison with the 11000nm of IXC. So if you want to have really long patrols IXD2 is the boat for you. They are both fantastic boats and I always use them.

Think I'll get myself a IXC now then, and start saving renown for the D2 later
