Default Hitting Stationary Ships in Port?

Hi

Tried sending 4 adcaps towards a stationary freighter in Vladivostok and none hit.
I tried various settings and made sure that the depth was low and gave them plenty of time to go active and also slow speed so did'nt have to make rapid changes to hit and they just all went past.

Can stationary ships be hit in DW?

Thanx

Did you set your torpedoes for "active mode"? What platform were you using ?

I hit plenty of stationary ships.

There is no difference between static and moving ship in DW.

Any idea why my torps don't hit?
I set them for active and to enable well before they get nar the target and to run shallow.

Hm .. what about cieling settings ? Try to ID target as surface, enable weapon autocrew and use 'Engage menu' in nav map .. it should use right preset.

Your torps should run at your depth at the time of shooting. I do the same as Hachiman and enable them before they get too shallow. I've not seen the torps go to the preset depth not even in 688(I)H/K(janes). You have to go active and they will go to the correct depth, try and see with truth on. Anyway, the torps will have a good chance at hitting since the stationary ships are just that, stationary, and theres not much they can do. Although I remember a mission in Sub Command where if youre the 688(I) near the murmansk harbor you have to sink some ships that are really shallow and it was damn near impossible. I think it was because there was a rise in the topography before the torpedo reached the ship. So if the ship is at 13 ft and there is a rise to 3 feet before you reach the ship, then the torpedo will hit the bottom. You may have to activate, so that the torp reaches the preset depth, then wire guide around the shallower regions.
this should work.

oh yeah, set your ceiling at 0 ft. This may not be realistic, but i they will definately get in the shallower regions, as long as you activate them.

sorry, I just read that you posted the original post. sorry. I'm not sure why they run right past the stationary ships. Maybe they throw garbage cans over the side to try and fool the incoming torp. nah just kidding. :P
I wonder if this is a patch or mod issue?

I've never run into this in game. Try setting ceiling to 0.

I know how to fix this problem IRL, but it doesn't really apply here.
