It hasn't happened yet...but who knows...perhaps the next update will have something included :hmm:

The AI in SH3 cannot be modded. It is hard-coded. All mods suffer from this problem.

The only thing that can be done is to mod the way the AI perceives its environment.

Somewhere on this forum you can find a zipfile from CB.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...highlight=SENS

Its awasome, more realistic.

I recommend flatly that all GWX users DO NOT use the above mod. It turns OFF many aspects of the AI sensors that are quite realistic.

No offense is meant to anyone... but myself and the GWX Dev Team are quite familiar with that mod. Using it will simply wreck the sensors package in GWX. I will only say this: many months of research and testing went into the game functions of the sensors in SH3 since that mod was created.

I'm not trying to sound rude but I am not going to try to paraphrase hundreds of posts here to explain.

Hornetsting, I'm sorry... but your statement that the "AIfight2" mod is "more realistic" is an opinion... not a fact.

good to hear your comments kpt. lehmann. dunno if youve read my post about the 4 dd's that wouldnt or didnt seem to use sonar. i went through that whole thread u mentioned and it was said that maybe dd's use sonar but sometimes u simply dont hear it unless its real close, what your opinions on this?

or maybe my scenario was a 1 off i dunno. there is so much quality content in GWX that i really want to use it but things like this really ruin it for me

I really think that it is as you say... a "one-off" situation. In most of my own testing with the sensors... they'd ping the crap out of you. "Death music"

The DD's are a LOT more aggressive in GWX. This is a good thing inspite of the term "uber" that gets tossed around here so easily.

The warships are darn good in GWX. I believe they react very well. Today I had a day light attack on a convoy. I got by the lead frigate who did detect me but lost me. I sent out four torpedos and sunk a small merchant. OK, I made my grand entrance and they all know I'm here. The convoy steamed on while two warships keep be under. I eluded by going deep/silent/2kts/head changes now and then I . One warship went back to the convoy after about an 1/2 hour and the frigate stayed for another 15 minutes. They dropped DC indescrimintly because they really did not have a bead on me. Both warships high tailed back to the convoy as they got quite far away. I surfaced and prepared for end round night attack.

In my view, the AI warships are on the money. This was 1939 and they knew I was there and keep me down, all be it with just tossing in DC in hopes to sink me. They kept me down long enough to allow the convoy to steam on....just like the real thing. I suspect later on in the war they will be more precise to my location and drop the DC right on top of me. The GWX mod has made it more challenging for sure. I have not tried the night time attack so cannot comment on the AI reaction. I can tell you this, I went by a destroyer at 500m, clear night without being detected. I WAS SURFACED . Sorry man, no one will find complaints out of me concerning the AI warships. Hat off to the GWX team.

think about it---I know 1 thing if i was a cpt of a destoyer during the war protecting a convoy i would be pingin like mad and relentless so as far as that goes the deadlier the more realistic

in fact i do miss destoyer command/sh2 duels droppin dcs on subs was fun

yeah yout right i wasnt aware that a mod that alters repair time would also affect AI sensors. is the full LRT 1.31 mod ok to use or must i stick with the lite version to avoid sensor AI changes?

Same for me...you will not hear any complaints from me about the destroyers.

One of my encounter was in 1939.I came across a destroyer and hoped to try and sneak by him without getting spotted but that did not work.Next thing I knew shells were coming in and I dove and went silent running at 2kts.
I at first thought of sending a torpedo right up his nose but he was flying in pinging the crap out of the area and zig zagging the whole way toward me making firing an eel an impossible feat to expect a hit so I dove to 120m and moved on from there doing a bit of zig zagging myself. He never did get a solid lock on my position but he sure did make things very uncomfortable before giving up the search for me and moving off.All that pinging he was doing made the hair on the back of my kneck stand up with each blast.

Laffertytig,

Ai sensors are not changed or affected in any version of LRT v1.31.
