Default Loving the new AI sensors in GWX

I am really loving the new enemy AI sensors in GWX. Waves and weather really seem to affect enemy AI radar, sonar and visual abilites now. No more terminator auto acquire skills for enemy AI. Also, night time surface attacks are much more realistic now. It is now much easier and more realistic to do surface attacks (early in the war before radar) and not be instantly spotted every time like before. This is an absolutely essential feature in GWX. Really enhances gameplay and realism.

I don't know about this. I'm in early 1940 and the escorts find me way too easy. Pinging the HELL out of me. I've done two patrols in which both ended up with me and my crew ending up dead. I've read the manual on how to get away but that doesn't work either. Geez...it's 1940, the Happy Times. I lasted just a little over an hour on my last ping fest.

Suggestions....

Hunt at night - visabilty is greatly reduced for the AI (example, in 1940 I can travell on the surface in the middle of a convoy)
Go Very Deep - if you are detected get down to (at least) 200m if not further @ 2kts
AI Blind spots - Directly behind DD is their blind spot, stay in their baffles if you can.
Course Changes - regular course changes are a must.
Noise Camo - If hunting/attacking a convoy, use their noise to help you escape, the DD's will loose you.

But above all, think like a U-Boat captain.

The above should see you through the Happy Times after that well...........

sept 41, heavy fog, heavy rain, 3o'clock in the morning...
suddenly, a searchlight and a gunshot
there is a hunt who's hunting me

Crash Dive but the destroyer rams me
Strangely, he blows up but I'm critically hit. I sink like a stone

Ooooh...yeah, I have screwed around Australia in 1944, in my IXD2...and damn its a race against planes that are comming from everywhere...but the radar works very good so I have my AA gunners prepared before they come in range

and DD's they pack a good punch so thats my way of getting myself into big trouble...I love it

Yes but they alos can spot you very easily if you are not careful. Played the "Malta" mission twice and got spotted both times....because my conning tower broached (as I start the mission stopped) and of course a DD spots me and I got dispatched.

You most certainly should not attack a convoy in shallow water anymore
just my opinion

The main thing is to not be seen or heard.... all the "eye candy" will come to squish your lovely U-boat.

And beautiful eye candy it is, especially when its bearing down on you full speed at 200 meters away and you only have 40 meters of water under your keel, Doh!

Yup, as in real life... if the DC's can go deep and you cannot... I feel a disturbance in the force...
