OK, with the advent of GWX and all the nasty planes (damn I was getting pegged after I received we are at war message). What do you do when a plane approaches?

If my crew is experienced and at the flakguns, I engage. They've shot down plenty so far. But on the other hand, if it's a patrol in in late '43 or into '44 I crashdive. The enemy AI a/c are just too good and too accurate to do battle with. And to me it's as it should be.

But this is just SHIII without GWX installed. Still working on the 2nd SHIII install for GWX.

If your Watchman spots 2 Hurricanes and you dive in time then if there are any Awards to hand out if and when you reach Port then ..

oops .. forgot to vote [hint] the letter 'C' has worn off the key from the Beta-testing experience !

1) Spot Plane
2) Crash dive
3) Correct depth if in shallow waters
4) Stay down for at least 1.5 hours depending on battery

I voted dive to periscope depth but that's because I don't want to ground my boat.

Depends on the plane. If it's a bunch of Swordfish: comon punk. Make my day.

if it's a bunch of Hurricanes, I dive, 'cause they're to hard to hit.

Crash dive of course, or periscope depth if in shallow waters. This was a general order by Donitz, and as you know aircraft were the most deadly U-boat killers of them all. U-boats only engaged if diving was impossible for some reason.

Crash dive, all the time, everytime.

It just takes one lucky pilot, even in a obsolete plane, even in '39 to really make it not your best day ever.

Crash dive. I always crash dive, as I try to play realistically. I don't see why I should change now that GWX has made them even more dangerous.

I also play realistically..your job is to sink ships not risk your boat shooting at a plane. So I crash dive and get the heck out of dodge.
