My Activated optional mods:

GWX-16k atmosphere
GWX-Captain Americas Officer Icons
GWX-English Nav Maps and Grid refs
GWX-Integrated orders
GWX-Main movie 'Das Boot'
GWX-No Medals on Crew

And of course using SH3 Commander 2.7 with the 4 cfg files to run the whole shubang.

And when the special radar sensors become available in later 44, I'll be enabling the GWX-Late War Sensors Snorkel Antenna mod.

Also using SH3GEN

How I understand it, you need to wait until the game offers them to you, then you should enable it.

Take a look at detailed instructions about that in the manual.

Technically you should do it in the correct time, but I think it still works from 1939. If you install it early you don't really need it (it doesn't fix anything) but you still get the cool graphics

You can enable the Late War Sensors from October 1944, while in base. This will enable radar warning receivers atop snorkels for all VII and IX types.

If you enable it earlier, you'll have the RWRs as soon as you have snorkels (Jan 1944). - First RWRs on snorkels were installed from summer 1944 in RL-.
