Default Re-engaging convoys (SHIII + GW)

Having just broken off from a lovely large convoy coming out of Gibralter and sinking three large marchantmen with no torpedos left. Is it possible to take on fresh supplies at the 'Thalia' supply ship and opening the game through SHIII Commander and after spending 1 day in port. Is it possible to re-engage the same convoy and continue the action, or as the game regards it as a new mission, would the convoy have effectively 'dissapeared'. I have thoughts about following the convoy up the Spanish coast and taking on a second load of torpedos at the 'Besel'. :p

Do the Convoys in TGW or GWX zig zag?

Anyone know this?

They most cetainly do!
They frequently make course alterations..but can zig zag violently if they get a whif of your presence...and eventually settle back down to their normal business when there's no U-boats about

You may be able to catch up with the same convoy again
However the ships you sunk will be back in it
Stock SH3 problem - its the way the campaign layers work

When the comvoy is 3d rendered it will be rendered the way it was written - so it will be as it first was when you saw it
Unless it has generic entries for ships then there may be different ship types but the same amount of ships as when you first attacked it

I think that once you dock to a milk cow your mission is over, thus convoys and all traffic is reloaded. You have to find the convoy again and it will be at full power.

This issue calls for a mod that let you resupply in real-time. As in: you just "dock" at the resupply vessel, and the fuel level rises and the torpedos are loaded while you watch it on the weapons screen. This has to be possible is some sort of way..

Possibly by temporarily extending the 'external reserves' available for the crew to load whilst docked at the resupply vessel. I just had hopes of paying three visits to the same convoy minus any escorts I had managed to get rid of. Ah well, I still have GWX to look forward to

By rights docking at a milchcow or other friendly base shouldnt get you a full load of torps anyway - fuel was the main reason for visiting anything other than your home port
I expect a high percentage of the time in RL they only picked up fuel as they hadnt even seen a target let alone loosed a fish

I wonder if that could be modded into the game

It micht have been possible to get more deck gun ammo and fuel (not sure if this is entirely historically accurate), from milch cows but the larger ships like Thalia etc, may have been able to resupply torps. (Again how accurate is this?) if a mod was made it should provide some level of differentiation between the MC's and the ships.

Personally I'd be happy if it was fuel only from both. (And I think it's probably more accurate. I think a full or even a partial torpedo restock in a neutral harbour would have attracted a bit of attention).

If fuel was the only requirement to make it to a home port, I can see it would be a useful addition. Certainly in terms of on the hoof patrol decisions regarding fuel / target distance calculations etc, and making it home afterwards. Possibly what and how much is available from supply vessels might be adjustable through the realism settings.

Torpedos were available at milchcows but obviously stocks were limited
The milchcow was on station to cover any number of boats so it would be a bit much to expect a boat to get reloaded with a full load of torps

Especially a IXD2

The time alone on surface to transfer more than a handful would be a risk

Needs more investigation methinks

It has been my understanding that they only loaded enough eels (and fuel) to get them safely home. The milchkuh was not a filling station that let them return and patrol for two years at a time.
