Default Fraps and SH3

Can Fraps be used to record video from SH3 successfully? I've tried but it just CTDs. Any assistance? I'm new to Fraps.
Here's my system:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
2GB DDR400 PC3200
NVidia GeForce 7800GT

Hey there,

I used Fraps to record some test footage in SH3 awhile back, I did not encounter any problems. So I'm not sure why you get ctd's? when/how do you get those ctd's? that might help

As soon as I start recording, the game gives me an error: "Silent Hunter 3 has encountered an error and needs to close" or whatever. It's that screen where you can send an error report to Microsoft. Then I have to manually end the sh3.exe process.

Hello, sporks! If you check out the video thread sticky, you`ll see tons of movies made with fraps.

My guess is that you try to use fraps with an installation that has the resolution fix? I had to abandon the res fix because of this.

If thats the case, reinstall SH3, and pump up AA and AF in stead in your video card setup. Fraps have no problems with that.

PS: Removing the fix didn`t help for me, I had to reinstall.

Reinstall? Alright, I'll try that. Thank you Stabiz.

I also got some crashes to desktop. I made some small movies back when v1.02 was available, and had absolutely no problems then. I figure it's a combination of Nvidia's drivers and v1.04 game code.

I've gotten a minute of video at halfsize 1024x768, no AA or AF, on v1.04. That's the longest before a crash out.

v1.02, I stopped capturing before it crashed. I could go 5 minutes at full size 1024x768.

I have not tried with this latest version of FRAPS (v 2.8?). It's multithreaded, and it's been reworked for the SSE2 extensions, giving it a large performance boost.
