Howling barbarians of the gamer world

Quote:
The day is coming when the increasingly artificial barrier between game consoles and PCs is finally breached and the howling barbarians of the gamer world are unleashed on the sleepy, contented villagers of the PC world.

There will be a great bloodletting in the PC business.
Pretty interesting article, I remember the days when computers were exciting and changing fast--Windows 95, CD-ROM, 1GB hard drives, telephony.... and PC wargames helicopter/flight sims, tanksims, subsims, etc. were plentiful.

Digital Rights Management will eventually turn your "PC" (personal computer) into a console. It will be complex console but all of the mechanics will be the exact same. It will no longer be your own "personal computer" -- companies will literally dictate how you use it.

So, the "PC" business will disappear.

@Tycho:

I say, it´ll be the otherway. Consoles become more PC like. Xbox is pretty close to a PC atm. And PS3 will follow it´s trail.
