Hooray for the Luftwaffe!

So I've started another 1942-career in Bergen, Norway, and received a report about Task Force that's always patrolling the North Sea in my first patrol. I decided to intercept and came across a Hunter-Killer Group of four destroyers.

I managed to sink one and damage one (which disengaged and vanished over the horizon), and as I "cheat" with realism all the way down to 65%, I enjoy the ability to switch to external view whenever I want to.

Now, while being hunted by the British destroyers, I hear plane engines. Aircraft are always cool, but they can't get at me while I'm 100 metres down, so I ignore them.

Now, a few minutes later when I check the external view again, I see two fighter-sized planes close on a destroyer. Bringing the camera closer, I realize they're bombers or patrol aircraft, and bringing the camera even closer, I see that they're painted brown. Then, just as I'm wondering when the Tommies got brown bombers and if this is an inclusion added by Serg's air-attack mod', I notice the black crosses on their wings.

I cheer as the bombers take on the destroyers, even though they do not succeed in taking any of them down. I was fairly close to Norway, so I assume they came out of the newly-built Fedje airfield near Bergen (NorOps hint).

Luftwaffe all the way!

Yes, the Luftwaffe is cool.

I'm playing in the med now and have placed a normal german airbase on Sicily, a new convoy and a brit invasion force.
It's fun to shadow a convoy and get help from the Luftwaffe in attacking it.
You feel part of a greater operation this way.

I remember doing a patrol off of Malta before, and coming upon a large cargo. As I'm lining up my shot on her, I hear plane engines. Of course I cheated a bit and used the external camera to sneak a peek at them. I don't recognize the insignia so I crash dive. Turns out they were a couple italian planes on patrol! It was fun to watch them attack.

I did tell my watch officer to shoot the bastards down if they sunk the ship and stole my tonnage!

Hi Safe-Keeper It seems our flyer's need more attack training.
How are you comming along on your NorOps? Hope to see it available
soon. It will add alot to game imursion. please give us all an update

That is cool. I still haven't seen any friendly air activity outside of fly-overs in port. But, stories like yours tell me there is still hope. Good hunting!
