Additional Ships etc. with GW mod

Hi all,

I'm just curious. Having read some posts on additional ships available for download, is it OK to use them with The Grey Wolves mod 1.1a??

If so, how do I go about installing them - do I use the Generic Installer I heard about, or copy them directly into a directory?

Can anyone please provide me with all the links to the best ships out there?

Lastly, if you download additional ships, are they automatically included into the Recognition Manual, or do you just have to work around that?

Thanks again,

Px3000

Hi, I don't mind the work involved as long as it doesn't affect the GW mod in any way.

Not sure if you read a previous post of mine but I was getting some odd graphics behaviour and crashes when using the type IXB sub, so I just want to ensure it's safe to add extra ships to GW without it causing any more problems.

There are plenty of ships in there already, but I do like (to coin a phrase) a "target rich environment".....

Thanks

New ships work fine with the GW mod. Instructions on how to add them are normally included in the zips or rars which you download.

Thanks for the info!

Can you guys recommend the best dowloads to look out for? - i.e. what the best extra ships are etc.

Thanks again!

If you want to see them in a campaign game you will need to add them to your RND and SCR mission files in your campaigns folder. This is best done using the editor but you can do it manually which whilst tedious is not too bad for changing or adding random ships to groups.

OK, I installed a few of the additional ships last night, following the instructions to the letter.

Started SH3.....

Everything looked good, so decided to open the Museum to see them - then it crashed with a critical stop error, returning me to the desktop....

So, tried again - maybe just a glitch. Relaunched it, opened a single mission, started loading - then crashed to desktop....

Nothing worked.

In the end I completely uninstalled SH3 (along with my only good captain who has sunk over 200K of shipping with full manual targeting including a carrier travelling in convoy at 20kts - and it's only June 1940).

I have now re-installed it all, SH3 + ptach 1.4b + GW1.1a and this time I also installed SH3 Commander 2.6 - (haven't used this before so a few tips would be good).

At this point it was past midnight, so I went to bed.....tonight I'll see if it's all ok.....
