Default Ever get a bank shot?

I had a funny thing happen last patrol-

I fired an eel that appeared to bank off the target ship's rudder (damn! ) however, instead of sinking, the torpedo kept going, and wound up blowing a coastal merchant out of the water

Ever have this happen? What determines whether the torpedo keeps going or just goes 'blut'?

Sharp angles can do that or weird hit zones like rudders, screws and such.

I've had that happen before. A torpedo will bounce off one target for one reason or another and then proceed to move forward and explode on the original target or sometime bounce off and go and hit another target.

If you mean hit something totally different from what your aiming for and on the far side of the convoy from what you aimed for?then Yes.

I had one bounce off the stern of a ship, and curve right around and nail it in the side. It exploded, too. Go figure.

Gotta thank the external camera, otherwise I'd have thought it was a normal hit...

My best luck was when i fired a torpedo inside the convoy, it missed ,but hit a scort that was patrolling out of the convoy ,in the middle of the heavy fog.

I had a lone tramp steamer in GW listing pretty bad. Went to the other side to hit it with my last stern fish, as I was afraid air cover was on its way. About when it should have impacted, the torp flew into the air about 3 feet and was perpendicular to its original run. I forgot to change the trigger to impact. It took me about a day to figure out what happened. It didn't detonate, but it didn't matter.
