Default RIP Basil Poledouris

Linky

On November 8, one of Hollywood's most talented, (and probably most underappreciated) composesers died of cancer. He produced many memorable soundtracks (Filmography), such as the Hunt for Red October and Conan the Barbarian. In tribute, I am playing an .mp3 of the Red October opening theme, one of my favorite of his works.

Bummer. I'll play my Hunt for Red October soundtrack tonight in memory of his great work.

Sad. He was one of my favorites, too. I have the Conan CD in my car right now.

I was just thinking about him, I believe Tuesday night. I couldn't remember if he was alive or not, and concluded that he had probably died sometime in the past and I just never heard about it. I thought about giving it a google to find out. Which reminds me, I need to get myself a dedicated voice recorder.

I listen to his music when I run. The two Conan movies and Red October are absolutely incredible. Basil is in my top 5 list, alongside John Williams, Danny Elfman, and Jermey Soule.

He'll be missed.
