Default This is how you avoid paying the TV licence !

Beating them at their own game

I had a tv licence agent call to inspect why I had not got a tv licence, i sent him packing after telling him he is tresspassing on my driveway. He left and then two policemen called and said i threatened him, they said they are giving me a on the spot fine for £80 for a section 5 public order offence. I refused to pay, I got a summons, went to court and pleaded not guilty. A trial date was fixed, I was refused legal aid for the trial.

I went to trial having a better defence QUOTE: All fixed penalties and fines prior to conviction are illegal and void as outlined in the bill of rights act 1688/9 also any act that violates this bill of rights can only be defined as an act of treason. The police never read me my rights nor did they tell me I had the right to free legal advice, a violation to the codes of Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) act, the court clerk breeched her oath in a public office as she violated Article 6 human rights act 1998 "anyone charged with any criminal offence has a basic minimum right to free legal defence representation, this was denied me at the pre trial review by the clerk when i was refused legal aid, the tv licence agent did not turn up to give evidence probably because I sent a message to the crown prosecution service outlining these violations prior to the trial. I also told the CPS that i will be exercising my right to call for Sovereign Intervention as I believe my rights were being ignored and that no court in the land has any power to stop me calling for Sovereign Intervention as my right because the queen's coronation oath is a legal binding contract between her and her subjects, guess what, I WON.

Good job that man!!

With some of the crap on the telly at the moment, makes paying a license seem pointless...especially when you hear of what some TV presenters get paid...

I should be fair in pointing out that here in Israel, we have the same fees to support the one and only government TV station plus a few radio stations. And here, too, we don't get what we pay for.

Seriously, it's a tax. Normally, this is a fixed fee tax per household and not per TV set in a household. It's used to fund government boradcasting.

Thats what commericals are for, thats why they show them every blardy 15min during a movie. Ive never paid for a tv licence and never will, anyways i watch videos more than ever.

Just like the law is if you copy a movie thats showing on TV to dvd or video cassette you must copy the commerials as well otherwise your going against copyrights!?! Never knew that till someone pointed it out.

Yet another rip off in the UK

Quote:
If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one.
Quote:
A colour TV Licence costs £131.50 and a black and white licence costs £44.00.
You used to be able to get around getting one, by buying a TV card for your PC , but even that doesnt work anymore
As soon as you try to buy something that is capable of receiving a TV picture the dealer is required to take your name and address then pass it onto the TV License authority.

Not sure if you can still avoid it by using a TV than is powered by a battery. Caravans used to be exempt but not sure now.

It used to be used to fund the BBC, but now i believe its also used to assist Channel 4 (thats why Film 4 is now free to view).

That sucks!

That is ridiculous! Then again, the American government does it as well except they just throw the tax into all other taxes owed (Property, Sales, Federal, State, County/City etc)

Sounds like England just shows you guys better where your money is going than they do here over here in the US.

On German public channels (two major ones and several smaller) there are no commercial breaks during movies and other shows. For the public TV and radio channels we need to pay 17€ each month.

In the states we have PBS...but no one really cares about PBS...we have somewhat decent free broadcast stations as well (i.e. ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and CW), but most people over here have cable anyway. The government uses taxes to fund PBS, but like others have said, there's no individual tax for it.

I love PBS. Only decent programming left practically. I picked up a Pink Floyd concert off PBS about a week ago even. Of course I recorded it with my TV card!
