Newbie here...needs help. Please! :-)

Greetings one and all,

Acquired SH III a while back, loved it, but was finding *not* getting sunk by pesky destroyers just too damn hard so gave it up as a too-frustrating job. Since then I've read that this may have been in part because the game as it stands doesn't model water disturbance (from e.g. depth charges) properly...and that there are mods/patches etc. that can fix this. With this in mind, I was wondering if anybody could show me (not the world's greatest computer whizz) what exactly to get, and in what order if there's more than one component needed, where from, etc... It would be massively appreciated, as it's a great game - BUT no game is that much fun when it feels like the AI is cheating!

Are patched to the latest version... (the vanilla is bad and mods make the game - thank goodness!!)
Running any mods...

Have a peek at the SH3 Sticky's - All the info is there (have patience = lot of reading downloading)

Have just checked, version is 1.4 as it came out the box, no additional mods.

SH3Commander is also on that page. Its very good also.

Get that and the GWX-SH3Commander CFG files.

You will be a happy sailor. It might not answer your question, but it certainly might answer future questions.

Well, not to rain on you Boot, but with GWX, those pesky DD's will be a whole different league!
