I was thinking of buying one of these for a desktop but I thought I would ask for the forum's advice first.
Do you need xp media centre? Is an external aerial better? Which is the best one to buy? |

I use an AverMedia Hybrid + FM internal card.
It has digital and analogue + FM radio. You can capture video and it has timeshift capability. You can also plug in you VCR or Playstation too. It comes with a remote control too. External aerial is best with a Broadband antenna. Some people slag off AverMedia stuff but I have had no problems with card or software. And you don't need Windows Media Centre either. |

ATI seems to be the best game in town for that. I bought a Visiontek with an ATI 550 Theatre. There is also a 650 THeatre for HDTV, but it can only analog or digital but not both in Win Media Center. Of course, if you use the ATI software instead of Media Center, the 650 will do both.
Hauppage is another manufacturer with some decent cards, but the ATI seems to beat it quality wise. Does this explain it? -S |
