Default External stores?

Just a quick question, how do you use the External Torp's. You must be able to use them as ive returned to port with torp's not used, and yet all tubes are empty, all i have left is the external ones. How do i use them?

press "I" or get to your weapons officer and get to weapons management, when you have an empty slot on the internal stores, drag a torp from the external to the internal slot, it takes the crew about 10 minutes to move it in game time

EDIT: forgot to take into account my realism settings, look down further if you have realistic settings checked

No, the game lets you do it in any weather. I only do it in a flat sea myself.

Same Here. I only load them in "Deck Gun Weather". I also slow to 6 Knots.
I have a couple of Photos of U-Boat Crews loading External Torpedoes. The sea in the background is nice and peaceful..

With realistic reloads on, and the compartment running at 100% efficiency, the moving of an external torpedo to a torpedo room takes 40 minutes. After that, if the torpedo needs to be loaded into the firing tube immediately, it will take another 8 minutes. This happened to me on Type VIIB and C submarines.

Kind regards,

Eichenlaub

These are similar to time's I've been seeing. Getting qualified crew is key to improving these times and having a Torp qualified officer is a must! Then fill the torp room with whatever layabout swabs are hanging about playing with them selves until you get 100% efficiency. the job will be done in no time, in any weather from what I've seen.

If you want to be historically accurate this job probably took around an hour and half and was only attempted when stopped in millpond conditions if at all because of the risk of dropping the torp or some swabbies into the drink. The risk of being surfaced and stopped for over an hour probably gave even the bravest Kaleuns the heebie jeebies.
