Default Where can I meet up with a few liners?

I'm playing the game over a year in the campaign mode and am yet to see a liner.

Does anyone have any good area's or years were they appear?

I'm currently in a IXD, 1942 and no sign as of yet....

answers on a postcard...

In 1941 there is a steady stream that goes from Liverpool to Halifax. It passes through the top left hand coner of BF 13. If you want to find it do a sound check and listen out for the fast moving mechant. You may miss him on the first go but more will follow the same parth.

I also find them in convoys late in the war. They have good protection from a large number of escorts but if you attack from inside the convoy you have a better chance of survival.

The 1941 liner route last just for a year. but it's a great way to rack up renown quickly, I bagged over 250,000 tons on one patrol in an IXC. I came home with all ammo expended and Uncle Karl very happy!

The renown was used to buy an XXI, which I have now and I'm loving it, despite it being mid 1944!

I've had the game over a year now and have never sunk a liner. I only saw one once. It was heading west, away from Ireland at 21 in heavy seas. No way I could catch up.

I thought I'd never see a liner, light cruiser or escort carrier, but I've now meet them and sunk them all It a matter of luck but remember some captains are lucker than others. I'm currently fighting a hunter killer group of 4 escorts that picked me up on radar. 1 sunk, 1 damaged and the other two living on borrowed time

Default How to meet Passenger Liners

In a word: Advertise!

GSOH essential.

Liners on their own move really fast, and it's highly unlikely you will have the speed to catch them (20kts). So, like military convoys, it's a matter of luck that you're in a decent position ahead of the liner's route.

Liners in a convoy move with the convoy. There's probably one every two months, coming out of Halifax mid-1940 to mid-1942.

Here ya are .... I don't think photobucket has the option to make thumbnails so I'll just give you the links to the pics .. including the one of the dates ( which were taken about and hour ago ) ......

One torpedo to slow her down ( she was doing 24 knots I think ) and then finished her off with 40 deck gun shells ......

Before I finally left this grid I already had over 83 tons ( a good day of hunting ) and only had fired 3 torpedos and as I post this , my patrol is not over yet.. Just got to my partol grid which seems to be empty as usual ...
