Default Best strategy??

Ahoy Captains,

im in my 1st campain, 4th mission,,

and not having much luck finding merchants,
3 sank in 3missions ttl.

when u-guys go on patrol,,
do you;
1.patrol in the middle of the ocean?
2.patrol near the enemys coast?
3.do a seek for shipping lanes?

Im getting bored out here, with this ocean all to myself

Here's some of my "Honey Holes" (Note: I use the IUB 1.03 mod):

AM13, AM17, AM19 = Great convoy lanes NW of Ireland.

BF13, BF15, BF17, BF16, BF19 = Lots of single merchant shipping and the occasional convoy, but has shallow waters and lots of aircraft and single patrolling DDs.

CG94 = My personal favorite until mid-1943 (aircraft attacks gets nasty after mid-1943). I usually run out of torpedoes and deck gun ammunition after 5 days on station. You can sometimes get the occasional Task Force that comes out of the Scappa Flow area on their way to Alexandria.. and they have to get past you first! I normally rack up 55,000-125,000 tons per patrol in CG94.

ED98= From December 1941 until mid-1943. Tanker alley! Lots of single T3 or T2 tankers. Some unescorted tanker convoys comes in and out of the Port of Spain area.

Most people do their 24 hours in their assigned patrol zones for the renown that'll give you, then go to one of the "hunting grounds" detailed in the wiki:

What got to be my favorite spot was south of Ireland never went any where else, there are patrols but nothing to bad,North Atlantic the weather was bad,but south of Ireland the weather was much better and lots of tanker traffic and also found a Liner that I sunk w/my last torp(lucky Shot).I would patrol just off the deep water line back and forth.

It's slang for growing hair on the palms of your hands.

[Edit: Um, oh, yes, I like hunting near convoy approaches - any place the waters narrow to feed a port or a strait.]

Bear in mind that although Improved Convoys indeed improves the convoys, it is reducing single merchant traffic significantly (as it was in real life, I may add).

Thnx to all,

thnx Von-helsching,,
then I will leave it as-is, I do get some
juicy Loner-merchants ever-so-often,
and they are FUN

ran into a Large convoy last-night,
but when I got too-close, the Destroyers
were all-over me

went-down to 80meters and ran
