North of Scapa Flow. I am tracking a C2 Merchant. Heavy fog and precipitation. Can't get range for torpedoes as minimum range is out side of visibility. Can't engage with deck gun because of heavy seas.
*sigh* my first real target and I can't engage. Argh!!!!!! |

In the stock game visibility in heavy fog is about 400 m. Setting up for an good attack from abeam is very possible especially if you have map updates enabled -- figure out his course, sprint ahead on the surface and then submerge and wait for him to come to you. Alternatively, just make a wild charge from astern on the surface and put one under the keel. Heavy weather surface torpedo attacks are fun.
Or you could use the Atmosphere mod which increases heavy fog range to about 700m, makes it a bit easier. |

I am running RUB1.45 with the Harbor Traffic for RUB 1.45. (on top of SHiii 1.4b).
I tried the stern shot, but two torps failed to find their mark. I tried the run ahead thing, but I suspect I was spotted as the target began making course changes. I lost her twice in the fog but each time I regained contact. But I wasn't willing to fire more torps at a single ship. |
