1.4b patch locking up

hi all, have just bought a new laptop and after installing the game off of a disk then trying to patch with the 1.4b patch it locks up.

the patch and game work fine on my desktop so not sure whats going on.Yes its the correct version patch also.

laptop is a Samsung M50

has - PM760 2.0ghz CPU
- geforce 6600 go
- 80 gig 5400rpm HDD

any ideas everything is up to date also

The patch installer doesnÂ´t work or SH3 after youÂ´ve installed the patch? When does it crash and are there any error messages?

What I did was to delete the data folder from ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data on my lapop, and copied the Data folder from my desktop (which was a new install of SHIII, patch 1.4) to my laptop.
It worked.
