Default Realism setting and your score

How much does the realism setting actually affect your renown scoring after patrols? I'd like to be able to use the free camera cause, well, the graphics are cool.

The way I´ve understood the thing it goes like this:

100% realism; 1000 points of renown
90% realism; 900
80% realism; 800

and so on. Basically, the realism percent tells you how many percent of the total renown you´re gonna get.

Gotcha, thanks. Not what I wanted to hear, but oh well. Wish there was a way to use the Free Cam without taking such a massive realism hit. But I understand their reasoning.

The formula someone told me a while back was this:

Take your realism percentage, and multiply that by .75 .
Add the result to a base of 25%, and the total is the percentage of earned renown you are allocated.

So, by this:

0% realism earns 25% renown.
50% realism earns (50*.75)+25% or 62.5% renown.
75% realism earns 81.25% renown
83% realism (I think this is what it was with auto targeting, gods eye map view on but external camera off) earns 87.75% renown.
You'd hit 95% renown with a realism setting of 94 (all realism settings on except external camera).

Based on my experience, and adding up the totals listed in the game files for a few patrols, this seems to be pretty much correct.

Good info Quillan, I usually play with everything selected except the manual torp solutions and like 1-2 other things, gives me something like a 77% or so. When I turn the External Camera on, Jesus, drops it to like 68%. Oh well, it'll take me a bit longer to get that VIIC hehe

there is a way to change the realism value of the free camera, event camera or any option.

in C:\Archivos de programa\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg
(my OS is in spanish )
in "gameplaysettings.cfg"

Code:
[RealismPercentage]
LimitedBatteriesRealismPercentage=5
LimitedCompressedAirRealismPercentage=1
LimitedO2RealismPercentage=6
LimitedFuelRealismPercentage=6
RealisticVulnerabilityRealismPercentage=5
RealisticRepairTimeRealismPercentage=8
RealisticShipSinkingTimeRealismPercentage=2
ManualTargetingSystemRealismPercentage=15
NoMapUpdateRealismPercentage=12
RealisticSensorsRealismPercentage=6
DudTorpedoesRealismPercentage=4
RealisticReloadRealismPercentage=6
NoEventCameraRealismPercentage=3
NoExternalViewRealismPercentage=8(you replace that 8 with a 1 and put the other 7 points nowhere or in any other option that you want)
NoStabilizeViewRealismPercentage=5
NoNoiseMeterRealismPercentage=2
NoWeaponOfficerAssistRealismPercentage=6
now... you can play with 99% realism and external view (havent done it but... looks like it will work)

Anyway, you be the judge:

I play at 87 % realism.

If I start a patrol and come back without shooting anything, I get 600 renown points.

Usually I get between 1000 and 15000 for 10000 to 15000 tons sunk per patrol.
