Default Shouldn't one allow Sharon to die in dignity?

I think some doctors have no more control over their fingers, today they again started to snipple around in that comatized corpus. By reflex?
He is in a coma since weeks, he is of ripe age, his brain has suffered severe damage, his personality will never be the same, his life's deeds (good and bad) will not see any continuation, if he ever wakes up again life will not be pleasure anymore.

Option one for me. I always carry an advanced health care directive in my wallet, forbidding doctors to do like they do with him, if after an event I am unable to word my decision on that.

Hm, unlucky formulation of mine: please understand the one on campaigning like this:
"Keep him alive until after campaigning, that way his party can benefit from a sympathy bonus."

It seems that Sharon's situation could be improved with an operation that might have been critical, but was succesfull nevertheles. It doesn't seem to be a situation yet in which he is being kept alive artificially witjout any hope of improvement.
Under such circumstances doctors have the right if not the duty to keep doing their best.
Of course we would have to have professional insight in his medical condition to be certain about all this, but up till now the doctors have been pretty open about his situation.

I still remember the secrecy and rumors around the deathbed of Arafat...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I briefly thought the same thing when I read of the ileus.

At this point, he is not in a "vegatative" state. He is in a coma. This is modern medicine, and this is what it's for. People who would not otherwise live have a chance to regain consciousness. It's difficult to let go of the person, understandably, but it's not yet time to make that decision. This person is still alive, and physicians should be doing everything possible. Cost is a factor in all of this treatment, beyond any question. However, in this specific case, I'd tell you he has earned a bit of funding. He earned it when he was a common tanker (tank commander), and he earned it double again as a politician.

I think he should be allowed to "die in dignity", but it's not yet time to make that decision.

If Sharon's greatest legacy is his party, it's possible that he would put aside his well being and actually wish for his party to "benefit from a sympathy bonus".

I know that if Skybird's artificial survival helped in anyway defend Europe from the Islamic invasion, I would want Skybird to be kept in coma too, actually, I might aswell shoot him to "induce" the coma altogether. :rotfl: (just in case someone missed it, this is a joke).

It's hard to say the media information is being controlled, so I don't really know what to say.
