I'm in two minds - would you prefer the SH3Cmdr realistic U-boat availability dates to be a selectable option (via the SH3Cmdr interface), or would you prefer that they be included by default, with you having the ability to manually adjust, as is the case now?
I don't care either way, but the modified dates seem to cause angst for some players. But I won't waste time if players don't want it. |

The purpose of playing a game is to have fun and relaxation. For those who want realism, it is available. They don't have to use the add-ons that decrease realism.
But the fun of "what if" adds to the game; having more options, even if not realistic, add to the fun. SHIII Cmdr has increased my enjoyment of the game greatly. Thank you. irish1958 |

I'd just leave it how it is now. Just make it abundantly clear in the readme that if you dont want more realistic availablity dates, then just simply delete the offending file. Personnaly i dont use the ubat avialability file, but i like having that option there, and i dont think its all that difficlt to delte or rename a little ole file if you dont want that feature.

I dont think he means removing it entirely, but asking if he should make it a selectable option (like wave size), or just leave it how it is, as the default setting.
*shrug* same thing really, ones just more user friendly then the other. While an option box in SH3 commander is a nicety, i dont think its a neccessity. Its not that hard to delete a file if you dont want it. |

Personally I prefer the realism approach. If it was available IRL then I'll use it, if it wasn't then I'll wait but I can totally agree with the guys who would like the availability of all the boats all the time. If its not a hassle building this in as an option I'd say go for it. After all at the end of the day this is just another form of entertainment.

I like realism over anything else. However I also like to have choices.
So I see it this way..since you can make it a choice why would you not make it one. This to me is what makes SH3 Commander such a useful tool.Because it gives us choices in what settings we want to use to play the game. The realism player can set SH3 Commander to what they want and the non realism players can use their settings. So as I said above..since you can make it a choice..just do so..it simply makes the most sense and would cover all players. |

After playing the game for so long, I'm starting not to care as much about realism. Sorry, but I could give a rats ass whether the VIIC comes out on Mar1940 or Jan1942...
Just sign me up for an enjoyable experience please... (aka SH3Cmdr 2.4) ![]()

Here's a turn up for the books; I agree with Kiddy.
![]() Subject to it not creating too much work for JScones, choice is good. Just because there's a choice does not mean you have to make it. ![]() |

How about an option where, if you choose to manually select your boat type, the options are limited to those types used by the flotillla at that particular date? For instance, the 29th Flotilla operated both the VIIB and VIIC concurrently, but one can't choose which one to begin their campaign with.

I voted no but I don't use sh3 commander.
If the boat's not available at hte time you join the flotilla what can you do about it ? sail with what you got. I always start my career with a VIIB then move on to VIIc boats. |
