Default Finding the famous Ships

Howdy,

I'm not too skilled at using the editor, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I'm most likely to find the famous warships during different times in the war, for instance, where could I find the King George during 1940? Or does the sim randomize this each time?

There was a thread a month ago or so that stated exactly how to locate and when to arrive for the Hood, King George V, and Bismarck clash. As a result, I can only assume that if this one is built into the game, there must be other famous clashes hidden in this game too.

Default Bismarck

I witnessed the Bismarck encounter from 8.00 hours 27/05/41 in grid BE53 north east section.Bismarck sailed in from the west and meets 2 battleships (1 Nelson and 1 King George V) and 2 Fiji cruisers.I saved the game when Bismarck was spotted and played on 3 times,First Bismarck is pounded to the bottom by all 4 ships in short time,Second,Bismarck sinks all 4 ships and sails in a large circle to the left,Third,Bismarck is sunk after a long shoot out and then I in my IXC U-68 sink the 2 battleships. It was an awesome experience.
I use IUB V2 AND Sub Commander.Great mods thank you very much.

I'm not talking about just clashes, but for instance, where was the king george patrolling in 39/40? I really would love to see some of the more famous ships around.

If someone has the time and inclination then the Ships can be located in the editor and using the time acceleration place these ships in specific areas at specific times.
Then all that needs to be done is using the radiolog modification create a radio message detailing the movements of these ships.
This would be a great addition to the radiolog(lite) version as the heavy version doesn't actually tie in with the game.
Anybody out there who is willing to take this on will

YOu find them 'patroling' in task forces, going at 20+ knots and usually near gibraltar, though sometimes in the english channel i've seen task forces but could never close in enough for an attack.

Yes, it´s hard to attack the task forces (atleast for me ), because they are going at 20+ knots. You cant outrun them.

Loch Ewe is a good area to see British capital warships. I have seen twice a small task force consisting of one Nelson and one Renown class escorted by 5 to 6 DD’s. They sail at a reasonable speed. But Loch Ewe is also the places where these Task Forces are spawn and/or respawn. This means you may detect but they may disappear into thin air until you can get to a good attacking position.

I know because it happed to me once. Second time I did saved as soon as I detect the capital ships and attacked them before they disappear. Then again, if you do not sink them, only damage them, they disappear as well.

Around June 1940 to Jan 41 if you travel up and down BE and CF your notice a taskforce travelling from what i presume the Gibraltra to england. Ive seen it a few times in the last 2-3 patrols but was always to far. This time i was inline with it. I came across it in my last patrol: a carrier, 3 destroyers and two cruisers. I sunk the carrier and noted the destroyer screen was easy to get past i was even going at a submerge speed of 7knots (They were making 20 knots) in the VIIB in other words flank speed and still they never detected me one destroyer went past me at approx 500 yrds! The whether was rough, got within 1800 yds before i fired all forward torpedos. then swung round to fire Aft torpedo to finish her off. Only after that did the destroyers wake up, yet they weren't up to it as they would be if it was 1943. I managed to slipped away,

Best patrol ive had so far.

I encountered the Illustrious Carrier Group operating off Narvik during the Norwegian campaign in April '40. Can't remember if she had BB's supporting her or just a couple of Fiji's but I did manage to sink her with four T1's into the midsection! First and only career carrier sinking so far, but tis only Jan '41 so long time to go!

Thats using Rub + SH3 Commander with various aesthetic mods. There seems to be an abundance of Task Force groups patrolling the Med and the waters close to England but I've never got close enough to spot a ship let alone engage any. Funnily enough out where most of the action is in the Nord Atlantique I've never gotten so much as a contact report from BDU regarding a marauding Task Force. Strange that.

I snuck into Loch Ewe on November 8, 1942, and this is what I found:

I had a full torpedo load, and all of the ships I labeled I sank. Stunningly good luck.
