I did a quick skim of the 8 pages of this thread but i didn't see any messages for u-boat sinkings.

Werner in Iron Coffins mentions his boats radio intercepting many emergency messages from U-boats all over the atlantic being attacked and sunk. I believe including some of these would certainly add immersion to the game.

Here's some of the messages they received:

"Attacked by destroyer 57N 24W. Sinking. U-844"
"Attacked by Aircraft. Sinking. U-964"
"Aircraft. Bombs. Sinking. U-470"
"Attacked by Aircraft. Damages. U-172"

Three of these were regarding one particular boat:

"Attacked by Aircraft. Damages. Unable to dive. U-604"
"Liberator. Attacked. Sinking. U-604"
"Rescued Crew U-604. Downed Aircraft. Damages. U-185"

They're especially poignant because he also writes that U-185 never arrived back at base.

Powerful stuff...

Got plans to include these messages when 1943 rolls around, currently I have a few boats sending messages, however most sinking reports revolve around BdU asking boats to report in multiple with no response.

Excellent! This will be a great mod.

I'm struck by the bravery and steady hand of a guy who stays at his post while his boat is being bombed and sinking long enough to tap out such a message in morse code.

The order to abandon has likely been given, but no SOS, no cry for help, rarely even a postion report, just a simple note of their passing so their friends would know what happened to them.

Just downloaded this, used it last night. Very well done. Really fills a void left by the stock two messages we have all come to know and love. Great job.

Thanks
