Default High Freq. Act. Sonar

Fragmaster just showed me a pic of him chasing another player in multiplayer. The pic was taken using high freq. active, so he was pretty close
Now I was wondering, since it still is an active sonar, shouldnt the victim hear him using the device? How is it working in RL? Since high freq. waves do not travel far, I assume its not a problem for your stealth when using it in minefields and for orientating, but when you use it on an enemy sub thats just a couple of meters in front of you, shouldnt the other subs sonar/active intercept be hearing something?

It would depend on the band pass of their active intercept and passive sonar equipment.

HF sonar doesn't give away your position in DW. Not sure what the RL consequences are/might be. I can tell you though that if you're close enough to get an HF contact on another sub he can certainly hear you. Unless of course he/she is not paying any attention to their sonar.

Can't see a sub when it's between your sub and your TA unless you do a crazy Ivan.

AI are easy to get behind. Can't get behind a player without him/her knowing you're near unless it's a kilo that doesn't turn.

I have only gotten behind a player once. You probably don't know what it's like to charge at someone and watch his torpedoes flying at you on HFAS, praying they won't enable.

Then you don't know what it's like to be behind someone, trying to kill him with your torpedoes, forgetting to set the floor lower than his depth, repeating the same mistake five times, and then having the time limit expire just before you're going to get it right! :rotfl:
