Did you install any mods while you were in mid patrol?

Did you install any mods without first click the ROLLBACK SH3 button in SH3 Commander?

Suggested game save method:

1. Hit ESC and click on SAVE. Give a relevant name. Make as many such save points as you wish.

2. When ready to quit your patrol, follow the above procedure to save your game, return to the game, immediately hit ESC again, click on SAVE & EXIT, give the save point a name like "delete" or whatever.

The next time you revert to your patrol, select any of the SAVE points you want prior to the "delete" SAVE & EXIT point.

Of course, your problem could be elsewhere but this seems to have helped others.

You need to wait a minute before clicking on SAVE & EXIT.
If you save the game at 00:30 then wait till 00:31 before you
save and exit.
The reason for this is because your computer can not load two
saved games at the same time and will crash.
I learned this the hard way.

With the method I mentioned above, of creating a dummy SAVE & EXIT point, I have never experienced a crach loading a prior SAVE point, even if I issued the SAVE & EXIT a split second after the prior SAVE.

Yes, I also use the procedure The Avon Lady suggested. This is especially handy if you're submerged. If surfaced I usually save and then return to base. Once in the menus I simply delete the saves of me being in base so next time I come back I don't choose them by mistake.

No problems yet...

Tired the Avons Lady's method worked great until recently. I think indeed adding mods improperly can be problem. Added the hospital ship and the fleet escort, but somehow my englishnames.cfg was changed and they were not listed anymore. I probably delted them or something....ooops.

Really important to keep track of what you are doing.

I had the same problem with the stock version of the game after playing it heavily for about a week straight when it first came out.

When and where does it crash exactly?

Does the Loading Screen appear, then it crashes to a black screen with kind of an oscillagraph on it?

Try this:

Cut and paste your career folder from the SH3 Careers Folder onto your desktop.

Then cut and paste it back.

This might restore your game.
