Neutral ships?

I have heard it said that sinking neutral/green ships gives you negative reknown. Is this true?

yes it does about 5000 renown but it can be editted.

Hot damn. No wonder I got so little reknown yesterday. I sank 15 ships and 7 of them were neutral.
