Default 28 Shots of Harbor Traffic 1.45c Heavy version- 56k Beware!

Hi all,

There was a request for screenshots of HT 1.45c in action, and so I hope 28 screenshots at Wilhelmshaven will cover it! There are several shots where I forgot to turn off my menu overlay and a few that are a little redundant but hope you find them to be all good. In all the shots that you see a Type VIIB moving along, that's my sub.

A BIG Thank You to Rubini for making Harbor Traffic!

That elevated walkway spans nearly the length of the entire ship!

Cute but deadly!

There are many ships that are just docked and don't move. This is a very nice docked ship.

But she's also a moving AI ship!

You get an escort service out of the harbor! Just follow the escort and it will make sure you don't run into any mines/subnets that have been laid around to help protect the harbor!

You get some AI Aircraft circling overhead guarding the harbor! One time when I was making my way out a group of bombers flew overhead in formation, but that didn't happen this time so no screenshot of the bomber group. I didn't take a close look at them at the time but I think they were Ju88's. Anyway, you can see for yourself if you install HT 1.45c Heavy version!

You can see a couple of docked subs here in this pic.

But the TypeII is an moving AI sub as well!

Blow that Foghorn!

I hope you enjoyed the show.

Cheers,

OneTinSoldier

Ah, Wilhelmshaven -- my current home port. I know it like the back of my hand. Even my machine, which isn't a slouch, sometimes has problems here with Harbor Traffic 1.45c Heavy installed !!!

I completely agree. The harbor traffic is so much fun I always leave and enter port in real time. Simply awesome!

Ahoy guys,

I'm glad to see that you liked the screenies!

Indeed, it takes some computing power! Although it's not the latest and greatest, I have a pretty decent system(see specs below). And I have tweaked my OS for performance too. But if I do want to use TC in the Heavy HT I can go to 32 without trouble. At 64 it stutters. At 128 I have trouble getting her to accept the press of a keyboard key to lower the TC back down! But like Sailor Steve I enjoy the traffic so much I usually just go out in real-time which presents no problem whatsoever.

System Specs:

Intel 3.4C(C = Northwood Core) on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe(Intel 875P + ICH5R Chipset), Zalman 7000a-Cu HS/Fan, Enermax RG651P-VE 550W PSU, 2 GB Mushkin eXtreme Performance(2-2-2) Dual Channel PC3200 RAM, NEC MultiSync FE2111SB 21" CRT Monitor, Sapphire Radeon X800 XT PE Videocard with v5.9 Catalyst Drivers, DirectX 9.0c, Creative Audigy2 Platinum Soundcard with Creative OpenAL Beta Driver, 250 GB w/8 MB Cache Western Digital 7200 RPM Parallel ATA HDD, WinXP Pro SP2, Comcast Cable Internet Connection, Nortons Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall 2005

Deep-Six,

I know that is an Me-109. But if you read it again, you will see that what I say is, and I qoute...

"One time when I was making my way out a group of bombers flew overhead in formation, but that didn't happen this time so no screenshot of the bomber group. I didn't take a close look at them at the time but I think they were Ju88's."

So in other words, no screenshot of the Ju-88 bomber group in this batch of screenshots. I'm not calling that Me-109 a Ju-88 or a bomber my man!

I know my aircrafts too sir. Especially after looking at all the aircrafts that are available for downloading and flying in MS Flight Simulator 2002/2004, which is just about every aircraft available in the world that you could imagine! And a Ju-88 is not nicknamed 'Stuka'. That is the nickname for the Ju-87!! So I think maybe there's mud in yer eye matey.

"The Junkers Ju-87 was given the name Stuka after the German word for dive bomber (Sturzkampfflugzeug)."

Cheers all,

OTS

here's an outbound flight, took before this latest version came out, also it isn't the heavy version

ju88 isn't a stuka, ju87 is

these aren't either, they're condors which have 4 engines, ju88's have 2

perhaps he changed it to ju88s in the newer version? i haven't sailed out of wilhelmshaven since 1.45, been playing '42 and later

Hello thasaint,

Thanks for posting that cool shot of the bomber group!

Like I said in my post when the bomber group flew overhead I didn't really look to see what they were. Before making that guess I took a look under 'SilentHunterIII\data\air' to see what bombers were included in the game. I was just 'guessing' they were probably Ju-88's. It was just guess, that's all, nothing more, nothing less.

Sooo, in the the newer version of Harbor Traffic the bomber group is still probably the Focke-Wulf Fw200 "Condor".

I would think that it was pretty obvious in my statement that I was just taking a 'guess' that it was Ju-88's and that I really didn't know because I really didn't take a look at it. :hmm:

Lastly...

I certainly hope that wasn't directed at me.

I don't know if you noticed(it would seem that you did not), but in my last post in this thread, the one just above your beautiful screenshot there, that I already quoted Deep-Six and replied to him that a Ju-88 is not a Stuka...

It's called Harbor Traffic. There are two verions of the file included.... normal traffic for people with medium powered computer systems and it's installed by default. The 'heavy' version is for people with fairly powerful computer systems and you have to rename a file contained in 'data\Campaigns\Campaign' to enable it. It's explained in the Readme.

If you're running the Real U-Boat v1.43 mod(pretty sure it's ok for RuB v1.44 too) then you can download it here....

SH3_Mod_HarbourTraffic_145c_for_Rub143.7z

Harbor Traffic for people running a Stock installation of SHIII can be downloaded from here....

Harbour__Traffic_145c_standalone.7z

Hope that helps,

OneTinSoldier

I use the Harbour Traffic mod 1.43 ( mild traffic I think ) and really like it alot.. makes me feel as I have some help fighting the war ..... only thing I seem to dislike about the mod however is that everytime I am leaving port ... so is everyone else .... and it turns out to be a boat race to see who gets to the narrow points first

I hate to run at flank speed in the harbor but those destoyers like to cut in front of me

Thanks OneTinSoldier for posting your great shots on the Heavy Traffic 1.43 mod. I ONLY wish that I had a powerful PC to run it totally maxed out. I guess that I will have to settle for the "regular" version until I get the $$$ for another upgrade..
I am currently with the 2nd flotilla out of Lorient and there is not much going on there except for the band and the people on the quay to see us off on another glorious patrol!

Thanks Rubini for making this great mode and providing some "harbour life"

nope didn't read your post right before mine onetin, my post mainly wasn't directed at you, just really the picture of the outbound flight you were talking about

i posted that pretty late before i went to bed, already edited it like 10 times for spelling mistakes lol, i know it's hard to tell the "tone" of a post on forums, i wasn't trying to be confrontational, just thought i'd add my pic, and comment about the ju88/stuka thing

i'm not really good at the quoting thing, so i guess i should've worded the post to better reflect which parts were for whom, my apologies

Hi slow_n_ez.... I don't seem to get Destoyers cutting me off in 1.45c. And yeah, I agree, the mod sure helps to make you feel like you actually have some help fighting the war, at least while you're leaving the harbor.

slamdance64.... Thanks for letting me know you liked the shots! I wish you had a PC to run the game maxed out too. I'm sure you'll really like it when you do get one.

thasaint... ok cool. I was getting a little worked up wondering if people were actually reading what I type! Guess I got you to read that post above your screenshot this time around eh? It's all good tho. Sorry about being a little 'confrontational' myself. And I understand about making posts just before bedtime and having to correct for typos, I know exactly what you mean! Take care.

Cheers,

OTS
