in the process of doing my first mission in K157 Tigr (Akula I improved) i have had a few problems.
ive been at sea now for 42 hours as i left base yesterday (dont use time compression computer runs 24/7 and so does DW) now the bearents sea is the main area where i plan to test my boat cause there is a diffrence between the akulas i just want to know the diffrence anyways. up here merchant traffic is quite high in the first 3 hours of leaving port i have already picked up 4 vessels 3 ships and a submarine (submarine possibly american) two of the ships are port control ships (a krivak and grisha) and the third is a merchant oiler (visual classification). i poped my RADAR mast up to get a firm fix of the ships i was at 18 meters speed 4 knots and my RADAR worked perfect classified the ships. now 42 hours out of port my RADAR doesnt want to work i again come to 18 meters 4 knots raise the mast and nothing the orange haze that normaly sweeps around the RADAR screen is gone and nothing is picked up. yet i do know there is another two ships (two frieghters) very very close (about 2 miles) my radar is set to 40KM range and the rings set to 5000 can any one help me please? the mast is not broken i can raise and lower it still and its not on the damaged list so its still oprable can any of you help im stuck and i dont want to turn back cause of a stupid glitch anyways where im heading i dont realy need it but i do need it right now because im transiting the bearents sea and i realy dont fancy becomeing a figure head for a ship cheers

Hmmm wierd, sounds like a glitch to me, looks like you'll have to continue the rest of your patrol with the radar U/S kapitan.
Have you tried saving the game and reloading? One thing i would like to ask tho, for each patrol, you must create a new mission right? Seeded with targets/contacts ? Just intrested in your style of play thats all. :hmm: |

right my patrol always begins at base i have to navigate out on the surface from my home port to deep water which normaly take 3 hours depending on what speed i do and what the weather is like. i dont use time compression and the game clock matches all the clocks in the hous (GMT).
i create a new mission every time i compleate an old one which takes between a day and two week in which time no time compression is used and the computer is on all the time i save the game every 6 hours so if i do crash always can go back to it (never happend yet) longest mission is so far 7 weeks (when i was in the med with gepard when got run down by the carrier) but most of my missions do not take me far from home in fact i never realy go further than 2000 miles from home and a good deal of missions only last two or three days thats why i can clock up so many. i do do one off patrols that last weeks my current mission will or shud end in about 4 days howeer nothing goes to plan. when creating i like a real world feal so merchant traffic the occasional warship ect ect slung in and with truth off its hard to know whats what and where it is and if it exists. in the bearents sea merchant traffic is slight but the problem is its clumped up into a small area and thus making it difficault and dangerous to transit because the water is so shallow, its not uncommon to classify 20 or 25 ships in this area and submarine pose an altogether greater problem. in oreder to leave port and make for patrol point i first have to make sure im not being followed so crazy ivans and what nots are used i dont realy go above 20 knots infact its rare even when leaving port. during the patrol i stay at all diffrent depth coming up evry once ina while to get messages and visual refrences some times vis contact not nessasery (under ice). to get passed the gauntlet of ships i need my radar esm and periscope with out one it becomes more difficault ESM is not a problem but once i start loosing periscope or RADAR thats when problems start. at the moment i am 11 hours from my patrol point im late im heading at 22knots 245 meters distance 242 miles now ive almost passed the danger zone but i will definatly need radar to get back into port because there are two ships running the inlet and if i do see them they might slam into me. hope that gives you an insight

Wow... interesting idea to be honest.
A series of missions on overlapping maps simulating an entire patrol. The dynamic campaign system could probably be utilized for this purpose as well. I'd be interested in any mission released with this design. :hmm: ![]() Of course, I'd use time compression but it'd be interesting to get surprised on the way out of port or transiting through a busy commercial corridor or in the middle of no-where under the ice (or an emergency mission assignment over comms), as opposed to loading a mission where you *know* something is going to happen sooner or later. It would be kind of like a fully playable patrol similar to the ones back in Silent Service, gosh those were fun. ![]() ![]()

Hmm ive been thinking about this. Can dynamic groups/units be randomised in the Mission editior?
If so surely this is a step towards some kind of dynamic campaign for DW. Any one have any ideas? |

Of course they can download these missions => http://okof4.free.fr/missions/DW/ then edit them and you will see lots of different examples of randomised group or randomised units in group |
