What Happened?

So I am cruising along the US coast at night in my IXc, watch crew on the bridge, not fatigued and in 1054 time compression. All of the sudden I'm being hit with shells and machine gun fire from a US Fletcher class destroyer. How did he get close enough to shoot at me without my watch crew seeing him? This has happened a couple of times but only in this area. US destroyers seem to come out of nowhere with no warning.

TC can be a bad thing at times. Especially if the weather is bad/foggy. You can go down quickly.

yep, had the same thing many times, now I don't use TC 1024 anymore but mostly 256 or 512 with much better results
