No more "We've been spotted, sir."

I've been playing with manual targeting turned on for a while now, It was just the other day that I noticed I don't get the "We've been spotted, sir" message. Does enabling manual targeting disable the message? I like it that way, I'm just curious though.

I still had it with manual targeting.

I've been playing with RUB 1.43, so I thought RUB removed it.

when you mention it, I think it was removed in a patch. I've been playing 1.0 for a good time (no need to fix anything if it aint broken), but when i've update to 1.4b it was gone.

I'm playing a clean 1.4 and it is still in the game, I was just spotted about 5min ago.

yah funny thing was i was shadowing a boat for a while and he must have called in air support AND DD support because they came right on top of me and suprised me. The bastard kept his course too, no zigzagging or anything! And no "We've been spotted sir". Rub 1.43 and 1.4b patch

English speech or Germand speech ?

Using German speech with English text. I have never seen a message telling me I've been spotted in air, surface or convoy attacks.

If I remember correctly it was with English text. I use German speech but don't remember anything from this.

I'm playing a clean 1.4b with English speech and I got it in the big convoy single mission.

Same setup, with RUb 1.43, and I get "we've been spotted" messages.

Well, now we're all confused. It is interesting, however, that I had never seen that message before yesterday. I was looking up some information in the SH3 pamphlet manual when I looked closedly at one of the periscope images and saw that very message, thinking to myself 'I've never seen that message before'.

I assumed that it had been worked out or removed by the time the game was released. After all, some of the screen features and interfaces (the crew counter in the baracks screen, for example) are different.

I recently reinstalled the game anew after reformatting the harddrive and reinstalling Windows. After installing, I immediately installed patch 1.4b and my beloved mods.

Could it have been a mod that somehow disabled something?

The only thing that I think could possibly have done something is this mod:

SH3_Mod_CrewCheers_German

This enabled the "Yes!" cheers for the German language when you hit or sink a ship. Maybe that also removed the "We've been spotted, sir." message?
