Default OPS MOD.

Will there soon be a stand alone ops mod?

I kind of doubt it. There is a whole set of non-campaign files that are required for it which are much easier to manage within RUb than otherwise.

We'll see. It still requires a whole number of mods, including new nationalities, unit adjustments and AirPower.

Thanks CCIP. I hope it doesn't turn into a dead issue. I had an idea a great deal of work would be required.

Maybe someone will pick it up and run with it.

...Any idea where I can find a hex-editor? Is it freeware or payware?

Oh it's not THAT difficult as to require hex editing!

It's more an issue that in fact, a standalone Ops is much closer to RUb than anything else, since it requires a number of mods already in RUb to run.

Since work on Ops is in a bit of a recess right now (and Egan, who puts the releases together, is away for a while), I doubt we'll be making any concrete plans for future Ops for the next couple of weeks at least

CCIP! The version in Rub 1.43 is it far away from the assumed endstate OPS mod?

About hexediting! How do you learn how to do? Do you need to be some kind of computerprogrammer or what level is required. I really want to learn.

Yes, the RUb 1.43 version is basically the first full Ops Beta. Far from finished - and there's already been some work done on the next version!

And hex editing.... the "horrible" truth is that I know nothing about it myself :rotfl:

Any work I do with hex is rightly credited to TimeTraveller's help.

CCIP- your new nationalities, will you be needing recognition manual covers for them? If so, I volunteer.

I kind of assumed they were in there automatically. If you have RUb 1.43, you can check it over - I haven't exactly had to identify any Albanian ships lately

But yes, if that's needed - go ahead. The rosters are right there in the folder for you.

Have you ever.... as a child, happily walked barefoot down a creek, only to step off of a ledge and fall into the muck face-first?

That's what I felt like when I looked at a .dat file with my newly aquired hex editor...

... I'm in WAYYYY over my head there and have no desire to go back to school again to learn hexadecimal.

Soooo, I guess I won't be hex editing anything.

For those of you who helped me find a hex editor, thank you very much. Part of an adventure is to learn where you can and cannot go.
