Default Unable to dive

I was heavily depth charged in my last patrol which resulted in the destruction of my bow dive planes. I was sinking badly so I blew ballast. Anyway, I still had fish in my tubes but whenever I tried to dive, it would only go to 8m depth and stay there. My patrol area was very far so rather than get attacked by a destroyer or something, I just exited my patrol.

Is there any other way to dive or is it impossible without the bow dive planes?

Ya, You should be able to just "flood"your Bal tanks but in this sim. I do think that the damage to your bow plane has left you as a "sitting duck".......sorry mate!........ and know that I think about it,I was in the same jam once and I did a crash dive! and lets just say she never came up again...... :|\

Try this (Not sure if it will work!) Go all stop, bo back 2/3rds and press the dive key. If it does work, once you get to the depth you want, go all stop select the depth on the gage, order an ahead speed.

Worth a try!

My last patrol, I lost use of my bow planes. I could still dive, but it took a while and was hard to maintain depth.

Sounds like this could be related to the skill of the crew as well then. Do you have a skilled command room crew?
